COVID-19: Tottenham right-back, Matt Doherty tests positive

Tottenham right-back, Matt Doherty has tested positive for coronavirus disease.

The Irish FA (FAI) made this known in a statement released via its official Twitter account on Monday.

According to the statement Doherty tested positive alongside fellow Republic of Ireland team-mate James McLean while on international duty for their country.

”The Football Association of Ireland can confirm Matt Doherty and James McClean have tested positive for COVID-19

“The rest of the staff & squad tested negative ahead of the flight back to Dublin this morning before the match against Bulgaria on Wednesday,” the statement said.

The pair played in Sunday night’s 1-0 defeat by Wales, but have now been isolated from the rest of the group who flew back to Dublin.
