The death of former Super Eagles defender, Yisa Sofoluwe, has been announced.
The 53-year-old Sofoluwe, nicknamed ‘minister of defence’ during his playing days was admitted at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) last Thursday after it was diagnosed of mild cerebral atrophy.
His death was announced last night, which has thrown the Nigerian football community into mourning.
He played for the then Green Eagles team in the 1980s at a time when Nigerians largely depended on radio commentaries for their football coverage, his name would rang a bell to many ears.
