Lagos-Ibadan rail line: Amaechi gives update on project [VIDEO]

Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has said that he has instructed the contractors on the Lagos-Ibadan rail project to engage more workers across all stations for prompt completion.

Ameachi said this in a tweet via his Twitter handle on Monday.

According to him, work on the Operation Control Centre, OCC, housing the main controls across the rail line is currently ongoing.

“We’ve told the contractors on the Lagos-Ibadan rail project to engage more workers across all stations for prompt completion,” Ameachi said.

Meanwhile, Amaechi had in August said that over 20,000 workers were engaged for the ongoing construction of Lagos-Ibadan rail project.

He explained that the engagement was in compliance with the local content law inherent in the 1.6-billion-dollar contract agreement between Nigeria and China.

“There are over 20,000 Nigerian workers employed for the construction of the Lagos-Ibadan railway project, only five-hundred and sixty of the workers on that project are Chinese,.” Amaechi said.
